QESBA Executive Director not seeking contract renewal
Montreal, April 21, 2017 - “It’s the right time,” the Quebec English School Boards Association’s (QESBA) Executive Director Marcus Tabachnick said, as the QESBA announces that Mr. Tabachnick will not seek a renewal of his contract with the Association.
Mr. Tabachnick has worked passionately for English education and the rights of the anglophone minority for over 30 years, the last three as the QESBA Executive Director. He has brought those years of experience to the table as the Board of Directors of the QESBA reviewed it’s priorities in strategic, political, and financial dossiers.
“We are grateful for Marcus’ contributions,” stated QESBA President, Jennifer Maccarone. “His input to the year-long successful fight to have Bill 86 defeated, working to ensure that important changes were realized before the adoption of Bill 105, and several appearances before Official Languages commissions in Ottawa, helped all our school boards in establishing their own positions with the provincial and federal governments,” she added.
The Executive Committee will embark on a process to fill the Interim position immediately, and the formal process for the Executive Director position, by a schedule established by the Board of Directors at its next meeting in May.
“We wish Mr. Tabachnick well in whatever new challenges await him,” the President concluded.
