QESBA Weekly Message

Week of December 17, 2018

Happy Holidays!

The Québec English School Boards Association wishes you a happy and restful holiday season.  The Weekly Message will be on hiatus until the week of January 14, 2019.

Meeting with the Minister

QESBA and the FCSQ met jointly with Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge last Friday in Montréal. The meeting itself went well, many topics were covered and we felt an openness during this exchange regarding school board structures.

However, as you will have read and heard the Minister has made it clear that no such opening on structures was ever on the table and that he plans to move forward with abolishing school boards and he has furthermore declared that we will lose in any court case brought forward.

QESBA has been very busy with subsequent media interventions over the last few days. Please see links of interviews with QESBA Executive Director Russell Copeman below.

Spring Conference 2019

The Lester B. Pearson School Board are hosting the next joint AAESQ/QESBA Spring Conference at the Fairmont Mont-Tremblant from May 23 - 25, 2019 under the theme "Pathways to Wellness."

We are seeking proposals for sessions that respond to three sub-themes:

PhysicalWellness
Maintaining a healthy body and seeking care when needed

Intellectual Wellness
Keeping an open mind for new ideas and expanding knowledge

EmotionalWellness
Understanding your feelings and coping effectively with stress

Session proposals can take the form of:

  • Workshops – interactive presentations in a conference room setting
  • Learning opportunities related to one of the three sub-themes
or
  • Activities – facilitated group participation in alternative settings
  • Experiential opportunities that realize sub-theme benefits

Proposals can be submitted through this link
