Meeting with the Minister
QESBA met with Jean-François Roberge, Minster of Education, Recreation and Sports on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. President Dan Lamoureux, Vice- President Noel Burke, Executive Director Russell Copeman and Director of Communications and Special Projects Kim Hamilton represented the Association. Among the items discussed were: Major School Change and article 477.1.1 of the Education Act, Bill 21 and the Future of School Boards.
This was QESBAs first one-on-one meeting with the Minister, it was a polite exchange with the firm commitment to meet again late August.
QESBA Tour of Member Boards
The QESBA tour of member boards continues next week at the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board. President Dan Lamoureux and Executive Director Russell Copeman will be present on the Association's behalf. During this visit a dedication of a Vimy Oak Tree will take place to honour former President Jennifer Maccarone.
The Canadian School Boards Association Congress and the National Gathering on Aboriginal Education will be held in Toronto from July 3 - 6, 2019. You still have time to register!
There are a few rooms available in the Conference hotel if you are interested in attending!
As is the annual practice, the Weekly Message will go on Hiatus until Mid-August. QESBA will keep you apprised of any emergency developments via special message.
