The Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Education finished their work on the K-4 draft legislation last week. Speculation is that the hearings on Bill 40 - An Act to amend mainly the Education Act with regard to school organization will begin in early November. Most of QESBA's education partners have requested to be heard on Bill 40. QESBA will begin writing our brief next week. It will be sent to the Board of Directors as soon as possible once the lawyers have reviewed the content.
Meeting with the Minister
QESBA will be meeting with the Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge tomorrow in Montreal. The only topic on the agenda will be Bill 40. QESBA will report on this meeting next week in the message.
QESBA Professional Development Session/AGM
The QESBA PD and AGM will be held on November 1 & 2, 2019 at the Hotel Mortagne in Boucherville. A small block of rooms is available to reserve at $159/night (reservation group #26970).The program detail was sent out last week, the bulk of the discussion will be around Bill 40 and the analysis from our legal team. Furthermore there will be an important community mobilization component with our partners at EPCA and QCGN. Canadian Association for Communicators in Education
QESBA Director of Communications and Special Projects Kim Hamilton will present a workshop along with Canadian School Boards Association President Laurie French during the CACE conference this weekend on the future of governance and strategies moving forward for all provinces.
